May nabasa ako dating scene report nung year 2000 na ginawa nila gani & adie ng MYO Zine & Distro. Sila rin ang nagpadala sa akin nuon at yun ang ginawa nilang feature sa 1st issue ng Banahaw Newsletter. Almost complete yung scene report na yun na 8 pages ang haba at parang yun ang kauna-unahang nabasa kong scene report na napakahaba at nai-feature nila dun ang almost 80 to 90 percent sigurong mga existing scenes from luzon to mindanao including bands, distros, diy organizations, zines, and activities nuong dekada 90. Pwede siguro yun na isa sa maging basehan ng eksena nung 90s kung may gagawa ng comprehensive local scene report from 80s to date. nawalan lang ako ng kontak sa MYO nung nag-lielow sila sa eksena nung 2002. nawala ko din yung banahaw newsletter na pinadala nila at yung contact address nila. Baka may nakakaalam ng current address ng MYO, email add o kahit cel #, pakibigay nyo naman sa akin, ngayon lang ulit kasi ko nakakabalik sa eksena. Makikipag-ugnayan ulit ako sa MYO marami pa akong kailangan na makuha sa kanilang mga koleksyon ng mga local stuff. Nagdidistro pa kaya sila?

i would highly recommend including the SAMPCORE people as they had one of the stronger scenes during the 90s..contact people would be Darwin (Co-Arse), Rigor/Ritchie (Disabuse), etc..

As to format: siguro the start of the development of their local scene then sa releases ng mga banda, zines, demos, CDs, splits, etc. Old pics would also be awesome.

A special highlight I would like to focus on would be the gigs held at Killa Johns. Eto na siguro ung katumbas ng Katrina's nung 80's sa batch naten.. Maybe a "GIG-IOGRAPHY" or something..

Plus sa Batangas scene, definitely sina Felix and the rest of the Batangas crew.

Tugugan namin punk rock kasi masaya saka kaya namin tugtugin..hahaha...mga unang compo namin PUKE, KALBO, JESSIE BOY (tungkol ke jester na drummr ng crackpots). Tas kober namin mga sex pistols saka exploited. First gig namin eh yung sa sports complex sa pacita...nde ko na matandaan title parang Summer...ewan...basta yun...kasabay namin Bad Omen, Putang-inas, General Luna, ADA, Skrewheds, Expendable Youth, Biofeedback at nde ko na matandaan yung iba.... first gig din ata ng crackpots to saka ng torment of death. Eventually naging ska/punk tugtugan namin....tapos nung umalis na ako papunta dito..si isko sumali na ng fulltime sa Kiddie pops (dating kiddie corps) na naging Spenglers saka itinayo rin nya ang Playdead with Die(female fronted punk rock). Death metal outfit ng pacita......i remembered nung tumugtog daw sila sa misplaced kamuntik mapa away si Mark G. kasi niridicule nga sila ng mga punk kasi nga metal....nung mawala si Virgilio RIP dahil sa leukemia nawala na rin ang torment of death/mortiis at sumali na si Mark G at Jester sa Crackpots.

Short lived punk rock outfit na kasabay din namin...nde ko na nga matandaan lahat ng miyembro eh, natatandaan ko lang si Marvs saka si Gelo kasi tropa eh...naging Jolly Pops din sila...Forte nila punk rock nga tipong mga toy dolls.... i've started shooting my video docu.
i won't get into too much detail about it, baka ma-jinx.
but things are starting really slow, which is a good thing by the way.
i wouldn't want things to be too rushed. these things aren't easy to do.
lets just say that i'm starting my material wayyyy down south.
the info i'm getting seems really good though. lotsa eye openers. positive as well.

that's all i have to say for now.

SCENE REPORT BY WHATCORE RECORDS....
LAST YEAR'S MAGRUDERGRIND BULACAN LEG TOUR


arriving manila from the south they came to a blast ... at first,, at the van, we talked about stuffs and places here in the country, well, just like an ordinary tour guide for them.. while stuffing and sucking junk foods we bought along our way.. sharing moment and knowing what we're occupying when we're not on the scene. but the ride from the bus terminal to the venue of the event is not that far, so we're not getting along that much.
then, at last we've arrived, of course there's mike (our beloved friend and a co-whatcore army) who welcomes us to the venue. well, the venue was great, a good ambiance, half of it is opened air, well thank God the rain just stopped.
while preparing for their dinner (well of course its past 8pm, and they told me while on our way, they haven't eaten yet since lunch or that maybe since breakfast, well for the info, two of them are vegans), we let them prepare their stuffs for d.i.y garage sale at the venue as well as we and our stuffs to be displayed also.
after they have eaten dinner(a bunch of mixed vegies with sweet sauce and the traditional white rice), few of our locals just started to blast the scene..

performances by: (cant recall all those bands but here's what my memory remembers) -
TALK SICK - (new generation of hardcore, kids from our town definitely head crushing hardcore in your face) /
FRIENDSHIP SEVEN - (from south heading to north blasting their way of intentionally powerviolence to the non typical scene we all encounter) /
SISTER BASTARD - (band members from samok estado, our friends from the greater capital of the country, of course, plays kinda' traditional kungfu powerviolence, spazz a'like) /
ANOTHER MORTAL SIN - well, an intense of powerviolence in your face blast of seconds) /
PLAY (one of the finest fastcore hardcore bands in the country, plays fast speed youth crew thrash that will definitely fit your ears) /
BYSTORM - (another one of the very finest band in the scene from southbounds of the city, hardcore that will surely storm your brains off) /
ACCIDENT PRONE - (extreme influential kids from our town as well, after their release of a split from a hardcore hungarian band, here they come for a thrashy approach to the extreme intense of hardcore) /
RAYHAK (some of the main town's grindviolence two piece of hard hittin' beats and distortion) /
DUSH (or dash, i probably got it wrong, sorry guys) - (our nearby towns metal thrashy kids plays the last in the scene yet very strong approach with those finger lickin' guitar riffs hell yeah)...
and of course,
what we all been waiting for... the grind blasting performance of our touring band all the way from Washington DC
"MAGRUDERGRIND"
well what can i say after a lot of bruises and back pains i got after circling the pit, one hell of a grind... of course witnessing those blast beats and heavy distortions with that spirit crushing screams from the west will definitely fill your night...

thanks to all the bands and fellas who supported the whatcore night most especially to the touring band.
after leading their way home (yeah the touring band) and shaking respects to each other, we're on our journey for the next day of another foreign band that'll invade our happy night lives to obliteration..
