Mainstream Music Scene

Ive been hearing the new generation of rock people always debating about this. That they dont wanna listen to Mainstream bands and if an underground band becomes mainstream "they will end up sucking too."

So im just curious because i just listen to anything, but to you guys? Is there really something wrong about the Mainstream scene? Are they really that bad that kids these days hate them...

Some of them are like "oh i love METAL its awesome man but I dont like Slayer and Anthrax 'coz they are MAINSTREAM."

What is "hatable" about mainstream music?

Most of them just simply suck, I guess....

i think kids or whoever hates the mainstream scene are morons. With no disrespect to THE UNDERGROUND communty, these guys are great. But i think without the mainstream influences of theirs they wont even be in the underground scene.

besides, bands work hard to gain success right? and yes i know some of them do it for the love of the music but still what better way to define success and accomplishment than to be in the mainstream.

just a thought...

UG Music are great so is the mainstream.

i hate and loathe the mainstream music industry. nowadays no hatin' on the music tho. people can listen to what they like. the music business making bands crappy to be palatable *cough*sellable*cough* is the thing i scoff the most.

SOME "MAINSTREAM" ACTS RULE, SOME REALLY SUCK ASS, SOME "UNDERGROUND" ACTS RULE, SOME REALLY SUCK ASS BIGTIME..musically speaking.

i divide my musical preferences by GOOD and SUCKY. not UG or mainstream. for me, its getting corny, the divide, arguments, etc.

sakin lng kasi is parang nagiging "scene" na lng na, well yes may mga mainstream na banda na yumayabang and all pero sila pa din ung mga influence ng uprising UG bands ngayon diba.

tingin ko lng kasi "mas astig" ung UG which is probably right pero they hate mainstream to the point na parang napa walang kwenta nung mainstream....

hindi ko kasi maintindihan kung anu basis nila kapag sinabi nilang "ay, ayaw ko sa Megadeth MAINSTREAM kasi..."

ganun lng ba kababaw ung dahilan...? un ang di ko maintindihan.

maganda magkaroon ng linawan sa pagdefine ng terms na ginagamit.

ako personally (like froiboy, dweed, at electric dynamite) ay walang masamang tinapay with major label releases. kasi madami ako trip na nasa major tulad ni sting, the ramones, elvis costello, velvet underground, the clash, television, the police, the specials at sex pistols. good stuff pero nasa majors.

i don't think there's a Mainstream "music scene" per se. sa tingin ko lahat ng naririnig mo sa radyo, napapanood sa myx o mtv, nabibili sa odyssey, sm records bars, tower, music one, atbp. IS the Mainstream Music Scene. be it fucking (gasp!) pop, hiphop, rock, solo female/male vocals, rock, etc.
hindi naman siguro lahat ng nasa mainstream (or major label) basura or 'sucks' musically. in fact, marami sa atin ang nakinig nito bago pa man madiskubri ang underground. tama o tama?

sometimes its good to just let all the labels and classification go down the proverbial drain...
i mean, just listen to the music, whatever "type" it is....forget about mainstream, underground, indie..forget about genres and other french sounding words that just complicate things.... music is like tea.....and stuff like "mainstream and underground and whatever shit is the cup .....whether your drinking from an expensive or a cheap cup..its still the tea that matters...
