veggie talk

hi! my friend and i wanted to try vegetarian dishes. we want to try to prepare them ourselves pero hindi namin alam kung saan makakabili ng ingedients e.g. veggie meat.
can you reccomend us some stores that sells veggie meat and other stuff here in metro manila. if possible post rin nyo yung mga recipes nyo ala chef to go,ka-toque, or 10 min kitchen wonders.

my bunsong kapatid is a diabetic so we used to buy Vegetarian meat and sausages... unfortunately, Sister brad we did not bought it in Manila but from the Adventist hospital in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan... tumira kami don last year sa Palawan...

I used to buy veggie stuff before when I was still vegetarian. 2 years din yun. Gusto ko nga bumalik. As for preparing food, you just prepare it the usual way. What my mom did before was use the same recipe only, you substitute the meat with gluten(veggie meat). Favorite ko yung Veggie Caldereta.

If I remember it correctly, to go to Varona, go to Taft corner Buendia Avenue tapos going to Pasay, yung unang kanto sa kanan, yung may mga maraming pedicab/tricycle, pasok ka dun. It's easy to spot lang.

sa lucena may resto na "back to basic" teknikal 30 minutes before and after kumain kaylangan uminom ka muna ng carrot juice or kung ano man juice meron sila.. hehehe try it!!

pro kung ako tatanungin kung okay bang mag veggie dito sa pinas mahirap lalo na kung undecided ka or napiitan lang.
madaling mag veggie kung alam mo yung kinakain mo at kaylangan marunong kang magluto.

no offense sa mga tropa or veggie dito sa pinas unhealthy diet ang ngyayari sayang yung pag veveggie kaya kakaunti na encourage kasi karamihan ay payat o sobrang taba naman, sorry again im just being honest...

here in baguio, fortunately, we still have this tvp's in 3 sizes. una grained, perfect for patties. then medium, para sa beefsteak or the biggest yet expensive meat magic for sinigang..

yep. totoo po yun. i'm a living example.. no matter how i want to consistently stick with a veggie diet, hindi ata kinakaya ng katawan ko. doctors and fellow vegetarians have warned me before and right now, i can't even go to the dentist and ask them to clean my teeth because everytime i did, what they do is to conduct a survey ala general check-up only to hear them say in the end, "neng.. mag-vitamins ko muna ng mga 1month at kumain ka, tsaka ka bumalik dito. "

still, i'm trying to stick with it until now and carefully devising an alternative meal with all the nutrients my body needed.. sana makatagal..
and yeah the message i quoted has some points, i'm not going to deny it. ^_^

i could eat dogshit covered in tahini!!! i love that stuff, theres an aisle at the grocery here that has a couple prepackaged tahini options... and a bunch of boxed falafel mixes but im tryin to learn to make it from scratch... i have delusions of being able to cook! hahaha

Madali lang makakuha ng veggie foods if you have Adventist friends. You can always ask them if they know a joint where they sell health foods. There's one in Batangas...dati mura lang. pero dammit gawa ng pesteng ekonomiya eto, nagmahal na ng namgmahal.

I still crave for tofu.

Cibo serves good vegie foods too, although you'd have to shell out some more cash.
Ideal siya for occasions. Good food din and pwede pag my date.

mas masaya kung marunong kayong magluto eto tip go to a HK center ask for vegetarian recipes or watch how they cook some veggie goodies
sa 24 janmastami punta kayo sa makati sa may mayapis haha! ask kayo ng veggie dishes andun ako baka si dennis ng hard K andun kita-kits! haribol!

during my early years as a vegetarian malakas ako sa meat subtitutes such as veggie meat, TVP, etc.
ngayon minsan nalang ako magpunta sa Varona at Daily Veggie, more on vegetables na talaga.

Anyways, here's a super quick recipe:


Veggie omellete

tofu
onions
tomatoes
salt
pepper


- mash the tofu
- mince the onions and tomatoes
- mix and cook in a pan as usual
- add salt and pepper to taste
- devour it!

Im not a veggie boi but i love em lalao na pag mga veggie friends ang may gawa(especially HC Parties)... the thing is, after an hour or so gutom na ko agad. lalo na pag sumisindi ako ng Gulay*.

hey does anyone how to cook tofu like golden brown in color??? i tried before but it failed... parang tuyong taho pa rin hahaha err... it's one of my fave dish before... my dad used to cook it before he got athritis like pain due to eating foods high in uric acid... forgot the name of that ailment... err...

dredge mo muna kasi. at saka make sure tuyo yung tofu bago mo i dredge.
ibalot mo muna yung tofu sa malinis na towel at let it sit for 15 mins, hindi yung panligo na towel ha. haha!!

fyi, dredging ay:tofu, sawsaw sa flour, sawsaw sa cornstarch with water solution (kung ayaw mo ng egg), then sa bread crumbs, them prito! AYUS!

veggie boys and girls don't lack protein..there's only a RDA (recommended daily allowance) for protein and when you meet it, any excess will just go to waste..ayun highblood nga kamo in your own words...

veggie boys and girls don't lack protein..there's only a RDA (recommended daily allowance) for protein and when you meet it, any excess will just go to waste..ayun highblood nga kamo in your own words...
