There plenty of good bands to check out in the Philippines.
Don't take my word for it though, just check out the bands section on this thing.
Plenty of vegan/vegetarian faire
and some shops that sell Philippine punk shirts and what not.

The Philippines has some of the best bands right now in my opinion.

Oh that's nice to know! Last time I was visiting Ph i was so young that my mom didn't allow me to go anywhere without her so the PH scene is so new to me since none of my relatives there isn't into hc....too bad:D
I checked out xStaidx and it turned my mind image totally of PH hc. it was great! I hope to see some great bands when I get to there!

Hey thats cool. I am not Filipino but I love Filipino culture and hardcore music. I was just living in LA county for the longest time but now I am stuck in Alabama. I just got back from Philippines living there for 6 weeks and I wanna go back.

I wonder if there are any pinoys living in Alabama, and any HC pinoys at that.


Why is it that California is so full of filipino kids and they all like rap music and hip hop and they all act the same and think they can dance? Im tired of it.

The south is not a hotbed for Filipino migration so you'd be lucky to find a Pinoy or a Punk HC person there.
A lotta Pinoys are good at hip hop too but I understand your frustration.
HP is a fuckin sweet as Jesus shit band.
They are still around but inly play local shows.

If you peruse this forum further you will find that the Philippines has THE BEST MOTHUFUCKIN SCENE EVER .

Yeah I have heard a lot about Filipino punk rock, hardcore, and metal being really big in the country. But I never got to witness it. Most people did not know anything about music there. They were too busy just struggling to survive each day. One kid who had a Suffocation shirt on had no clue who they were, he just wore it. but then some girl at the pelenke market working with him knew what it was.

Anyway in Philippines, what is the majority type of person involved in the extreme music scene? is it urban poor, middle class, or rich people? Or a mix?

the excrement of the son of the Christian god.
Hoy Pinoy is dope , ain't got nuthin agaisnt them.
It is true that most Filipinos focus on survival rather than an obscure and sometimes inaccessible genre of extreme music but there has been a long rnning scene there for quite some time.
Maybe the conditions of your stay, your hosts or other circumstances contributed to the absence of any kind of punk/HC you would have found there.

As far as those who participate in the scene over there, their class backgrounds vary.
Most of the organizers are middle , working class folk who do it for the love of music and community.
At times the attendees are urban poor to middle class kids who would rather not pay to get in because of either lack of funds or the temptation of cheap beer and smokes.

If people are really poor do people let them in for free? I mean the real dirt poor squatters and slum dwellers. I would like to start some shows in those areas and make them really really cheap shows or almost free.

The middle class seems so small in Philippines, whereas the super rich seem larger and the extreme poor are like almost the entire population.

Yeah I bet if I had more time to hang out I would have found some shows.

And yes Hoy Pinoy are sweet!

I think it depends.
If the organizers make back the money they shelled out to put on the show
then I believe they just let the folks who couldn't pay or wouldn't pay inside.
When I was there I could not really tell if the punks who were in attendance were "squatter" poor or just lower middle class because they all dressed like punks,
third world punks that is.

If you would like to put on a show over there that is free or nearly free,
my suggestion is to contact Take 4 Collective, Flowergrave Collective , Sampcore Collective
and those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

That would be sweet. My goal is to make a lot of money in the USA and go back to the Philippines.

Sounds like a worthwhile endeavor.
My band distros a buncha releases from Take 4, some stuff from Flowergrave
and other Filipino bands if you ever wanna purchase them , just hit me up and I'll hook it up.
