I really don't see why people always seem to whine about this. Moshing is a part of hardcore where as ballet is part of classical music. It's the only way people can really get their anger out and the way people express their excitement of the music and the vibe that's in the air atm at the gigs. If you don't like moshing or hate it then why stand near the pit? It's your choice if you go near to the pit and you think it's sick or disgusting and get hit or two Of course there's always those assholes in the pit that are there just for the kicking and punching than the music. and that makes me sick

the new guys in the metal scene (especially these brootal dudes) always forget to mosh or worse don't know how to mosh. it's how hardcore and metal guys dance (remember that 80s Thrash metal era?), through the mosh.. in the pit. sitting while headbanging and nursing the beer bottle does'nt sound much of a fun, right. Look at that terror video. Awesome.

Yes, i have this diversity from the mainstream scene to the underground scene that we have right now. since karamihan satin also have this diversity, let me compare something. Comparing "mosh" to the so called "slamman" in a certain mainstream gig, MOSHING is awesome. It's not just you feel the music, YOU FEEL THE SO CALLED "MAGNET" itself. kahit hindi ka sabihan na magmosh, kahit itulak ka pa ng kasama mo papunta sa pit, you would choose to go on in the pit, because of the atmosphere you really feel in the set. lalapit at lalapit ka talaga kung gusto mo eh. unlike on the other hand, you just "slam" because your friends on a mainstream gig tell you to do so. and camaraderie's usually absent on a "slamman" pit. you don't feel the atmosphere. I remember it when i first attended a certain mainstream show in las pinas last 4 years(yeah! my mainstream scene days... haha!), may bata(around 13 or 14) dun na nakipag slamman, nung mawala ang balanse niya at matapak tapakan, around 4 seconds muna ang bibilangin bago magkusa ang mga nandun para buhatin yung bata. and it happened twice. and another difference sa MOSH and SLAMMAN... sa slamman, parang wala lang yung nangyari sayo after you had it in a show. no some sort of "side effects". in MOSH, basag ang katawan, pagod na pagod, pawis na pawis. but the bottomline of it is... FUCK! MOSHING is really damn AWESOME.

I prefer slamdance to mosh and my steel toe Gettagrip is perfect for this. Although i remove my studs and celphone first.
I like pushing involuntary bystanders into the slam pit (or mosh pit if you prefer) and sometimes slam at the crowd who do not want to get involved in the rough dancing. Why should only a few brave slamdancers/moshers get body aches? Everyone in the gig is obligated to participate in the masochistic fun.
Getting bruised once in a while is ok. It makes the punkers strong to face the struggles in society.
