Zine Basics

Guys, i am kinda new to zine writing at wala pa akong alam sa mga dos and donts ng zine.

Like paano mag-interview. Reviews.. things like those. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

Photos
depending on how socially or environmentally just you are, can put in events like food not bombs and fund raisers
make sure it has your personal flavour in it, so it isn't the regualr regurgitation of boring hardcore opinons
Then just get a cool artist to do drawings and cool looking titles and photo copy them in

Zines rule, good luck ^_^

well try to get a hold of zines and get ideas and put somthing that is preety relevant to you. syempre para maging distinct ka and get points in for your originality. masaya kasi magbasa ng zine kaya gawin mong smart and witty...
and yea you got to have passion kundi magiging para sa wala ang efforts mo.

Learn from other zines... Study how they're constructed. Read and understand what you've read. I believe there are no dont's in a zine except for DON'T KISS ASS FOR PROMOS... Oh, there's another dont pala, don't use naked girls and sex stories as backgrounds... Nakaka-distract...
Also, ask other zine editors. Bug them if you will, they're mostly good people...

Great to know you're thinking of starting a zine!

It depends what kind of zine you want to do. A fanzine? Sure, interview some bands and review some records. Perzine (personal zine), perhaps? Well you could do your zine sort of like how you'd do a journal. There're even art zines and comic zines filled with nothing but drawings/comics if that's your knack. Cook zines too, filled with awesome recipes. Or, you could mix all of the above into one zine and call it your own!

It takes some time to find your style. Why not start one, go with the flow, and see what comes up after? You never know! I know I took some a few issues to find my style.

I think fellow zine makers will agree.

You can do both! It really depends on the availability of the bands. Obviously, if a band were to be from the US there's no way you can meet them up, unless they're touring where you are, of course. I've never conducted a real life interview before though (I don't have a recording device!) so my interviews are through either email/IM.

Hi!

One great thing about a DIY/Indie zine is that you can really do things your own way, without the aid of the "basics". What is "the basics" anyway? You only need to have this urge to write something out and have other people read it, thats basically it.

Just write something, whatever interests you and you think you can impart with your audience. You only need to put em in circulation, how you do it is still up to you. you can put it out on shows and/or indie record / art stores.

and like nike proudly says: "just do it".

yun ang makapagpapasaya sayo kpg natapos mo yung zine mo, katulad ng naramdaman ko, walang standard ang zine na nagawa ko eh, hindi nmn yun ang pinaka importante!!!
malalaman mo kung ano ang mahalaga, once na ginagawa mo na ito!

mas ok nga ung my mga background ng sexy girls para daw ung mga wlang hilig sa zine magkakahilig at magkakainterest sa zine m,,hahahaha,,,un ang alam kung reason isa s mga zine writter n nakausap ko kng bkit ganun ung background nia,,,un ay kng naalala pa nun mga cnvi nia or bka sabog lng cia dat tym....hehehehe...

I would like to thank you, m(A)rcor(E), for handing me a copy of CONFRONT ZINE #2, the first zine I have read in my entire life.
May complete freedom ka talaga sa pagsusulat ng zine. Parang gusto ko na nga rin sumulat ng sarili kong zine eh! Hehe!
Kaya lang, madami pa 'ko dapat pakinggan at basahing stuff na gusto ko... one of these days siguro

Anyway, Xeroxkore #1 may mga kopya pa. 6-zine omnibus with all the crap of 6 zines in one handy, err, zine. The Putang Ina Mo, Dead Stop, Suckumbed, Carousel of Erros, Radikal Primates and one more zine. Over 70 pages available for trade...
