| Subject: Introducing BLACKHOLE212 (Singapore's first punk-run venue!) Sun Oct 18, 2009 4:36 am | |
| Just a heads up to introduce what is arguably the first punk-operated space in Singapore; BLACKHOLE212.
BLACKHOLE212 is owned and run by folks from the local punk community.
It is primarily a gig space but it can also be used for other events, gatherings, screenings etc.
It is also non-profit and it gives the warm feel of The Substation and Post-Museum (2 pro-punk artspaces in Singapore).
10th Oct saw its first gig.
Venue is still pretty bare but it has at least a working and decent sound system. Works on painting, sound proofing, staging et al might commence soon.
Do support the space whenever you can. Its non profit and exists for the ‘right’ reasons.
The address is BLACKHOLE212 212 Syed Alwi Road
blackhole212.sg@gmail.com
Nearest MRT - Lavender
1700 sq ft, reminds me of Noisy Studio, Ampang in Kuala Lumpur, in case anyone’s been there. Albeit slightly smaller. Nearest landmarks - Jalan Besar Food Centre, Kelantan Lane DSC Clinic. 3 min walk from Post-Museum, 1 min walk from cheap food and booze =) Hopefully if all goes well the venue will be fully ready by November..
Cheers!
PS: Hope to see a few Pinoy bands play BLACKHOLE212 someday. Mabuhay and Kamustaka
Note: Blackhole212 needs your support, in anyway you can. Read www.lioncitydiy.com for more info | |
