Hailing from the same island as punk godfathers The Ramones, Long Beach, NY pop-punk trio THE NEW ROCHELLES also share a similar penchant for simple, power-pop songs about leather jackets, monsters and getting into trouble. Releasing their debut full-length, It’s New!, on August 16th via Bright & Barrow Records, the band has teamed up with Punknews.org to premiere the video for the first single “Did Something Bad,” which can be seen here:
www.punknews.org/article/43611. After fans watch the video, they will have a chance to win a copy of the vinyl from Punknews.
It’s New!, the first vinyl release on Bright & Barrow Records, finds the label trying an unprecedented release format. Although the album is comprised of twelve songs, it will be pressed as a six-song 7” with an included digital download of the entire twelve-song record. Through this innovative release format, Bright & Barrow aims to keep costs down for the consumer while still delivering an entire album and a physical good ($6 gets you the whole package). The physical release (7” + download) and digital album ($3) are both available now for pre-order at the Bright & Barrow Records webstore:
www.brightandbarrow.bandcamp.com . Those who choose to purchase the album before it’s August 16th release will immediately receive a download of two of the record’s tracks, “This Is My LJ” and “Quit Givin’ Me The Stinkeye.” Additionally, the first 100 vinyl pre-orders will also include a FREE download of the Cause A Scene, Volume One compilation, which highlights some of the best up-and-coming punk bands in the New York City area - such as Banquets, The Reveling, and House Boat - as well as some local legends who have since called it quits, like The Measure [sa] and Project 27. It was named one of the top five compilations of 2010 by ThePunkSite.com.
Recorded in the band’s hometown with Greg Tamao at The Tomato Farm Studio, It’s New! is lush with quirky and catchy pop punk songs that sound best when blasting through car stereo speakers set to maximum volume. Armed with a debut that will leave fans waiting on the next record from The Queers and Teenage Bottle Rocket happily appeased, The New Rochelles will be playing the following shows (in addition to others that are still being confirmed):
Sunday August 7th @ The Rat House Parsippany, NJ
Sunday August 21st @ Lulu's Brooklyn, NY
Saturday October 28th @ Club Matchless in Brooklyn, NY (as “The Ramones”)
The New Rochelles are Ronnie Rochelle (vocals, guitar), Ricky Rochelle (drums), and Rookie Rochelle (bass).
