Converse or Vans? or something else...?

Share your thoughts as to which brand of shoes do you think makes the scale of HARDCORE...



Right now im into VANS. the comfort is HARDCORE, medyo badtrip lng kasi these days nagiging ghetto and more hiphop na ung mga new designs nila, but the comfort of it is great.

wish lng na sana mag labas sila ng medyo simple na design lng like before...

vans, pero meron din akong converse, tingin ko talaga ginawa ang converse para sa vintage sneakers look kahit napaka barbaric ng pakiramdam suotin

tapos na ako sa Converse... Vans slip ons? tapos na rin jan...

well, one thing they have in common is that they're both evil corporations making money off of subcultures which ironcially have rebelled years against companies like these.
if you're going to waste your bundles of money trying to be part of the anti-trendy underground scenester elite, at least spend money on companies that aren't destroying the lives and welfare of others along with the integrity of punk and hardcore. like macbeth. yes, i know the companie's run by tom delonge, former blink 182 and current angels and airwaves frontman and for you chest-beating purists out there, delonge is about as hardcore as pee-wee herman but personally, i think he's an alright dude. but that's besides the point. macbeth makes vegan-friendly footwear meaning that the process neccessary for their shoes to be sold didn't include slaughtering any animals to use their leather for a tiny strip on your shoe to make the design look cool. and if Sick of It All thinks it's not so bad to sponsor Macbeth than wearing their cruelty-free footwear may not be such a bad idea.

Macbeth here's one of their many designs by the way. And I know I went on about how Macbeth has vegan-friendly shoes but for those interested, not ALL shoes are vegan so...yeah.

yeah, that's true. you can buy them online though if you really have the money. it's really funny though cuz a lot of scene kids spend so much money just so they can fit in with everyone else. i mean if you have enough money to buy a pair of P9 or 10000 shoes, i dont see why you cant shell out a few more bucks for shipping and crap. but yeah dude, i think if we had it our way, we'd ALL get free shoes. free shit's always cool.

Vans are also Vegan, they are made in America compared to the majority of shoe companies which out source their production to countries with no workers rights. Although working conditions are still factories and the majority of workers are migrants Vans are as "ethically pure" as Macbeth. Macbeth as a company are doing great work themselves i just prefer to wear vans era's cause they are more comfortable than Macbeth products. Being a Vegan myself, i think it's easier to let people know how shoes are made instead of jumping down peoples throats because they aren't perched on the ethical higher ground most vegan's like to think they are. Remember that it is not possible to be a perfect Vegan and all we are trying to do is have the LEAST impact on our planet, car tires and road surfacing all contain dairy bi-products so until you can walk on grass constantly (without killing bugs) then chill out and be happy with tofu!

Anyways, living in a thrid world country like the Philippines, where it is a bit more difficult getting your hands on alternatives to vegan-friendly products than it would be if you were living in, say New York, no one is truly 100% vegan if they, like we, claim to be so.

Did I come off as superficial? As if I think I am "perched on some ethical high ground"? Well, if I did, my bad 'cuz I didn't mean to come off as arrogant. I don't necessarily agree with the theory that ALL car tires and road surfacing contain dairy bi-prodcuts but then again, I haven't done my research yet so I really don't know and cannot contribute to that part of the conversation.

As self-righteous as it may sound, for some vegans, it's about trying to educate others about products that are animal-friendly, not neccessarily acting like you're better than someone because you have a different lifestyle. I would never shove my veganism down someone's throat because being vegan is bascially my only "religion" and shoving any ethical/religious beliefs down someone's throat is wrong.
But when it's open forum and you're asked to give your honest opinion of a company as I see as evil, I don't see any problem with doing just that.

Nevertheless, I respect your opinion and kudos to you for taking the initiative to even bothering to reply to my rambling.

No disrespect for you at all my friend! I was just placing the other side of the argument forward as well. I completely understand your want to educate others and i try to do the same thing, and many times i can come off as preaching or arrogant which i try not to do.

Here in Sydney, there are a lot of vegan alternatives as well as restaurants and clothing labels, i congratulate you on being able to hold that diet in the Philippines and i am hopefully going to be able to do the same thing when i move over.

Only point i really wanted to make was the use of the "evil corporations" term, it is so overused and often can make your point seem less educated, i am a human rights activist before animal rights and i know that as soon as someone says corporation the audience instantly switches off "oh geez here we go again.. " But again no disrespect ^_^

Dati pang skate, brown suede[?] and black shell/sole Adidas superstar [unang style hindi yung chunky na bago] lowcut. matibay din at komportable kahit medyo manipis ang suwelas. nasira lang yun balat nun nilabhan at nabilad sa araw.
sa ngayon di na kaya magskate kasi masyado na malaki bahay alak pero gamit Vans Old Skool black na may gold skulls.
Balak ko din umiskor nung Puma Roma. sana meron dito sa Pinas nung Corduroy type
