me isspecifically asking for green papaya art space info, anyone know their do's dont's have's havenot's? salamat!

Part 1

susubukan kong ilagay lahat ng mga venues na nakausap at napagpa-GIGan namen dito base lamang sa memorya ko so malamang sa hindi meron akong mga detalyeng ma-miss. lalagyan ko na rin ng objective comment ang bawat venue hangga't maari. should one interest you, i suggest kayo mismo ang pumunta o kumontak to see for yourselves.

sisimulan ko sa Maynila:

Maru Bar - Jupiter St. Makati city
- contact person: sheryl 750-4771/ 750-4783/ 0917-8136561
- medyo matagal na rin mula nung huli kaming nagpa-gig dito (the release show for the New Names 4-way split).
- as far as i can remember hindi sila nagcha-charge for the rent of the venue and [sub-standard] equipment. ang conditions nila is you have to choose ticket prices between 80 or 100 na sila ang magpo-provide. ang hatian ay 20 sa kanila kung pipiliin nyo yung 80 at 30 naman pag 100. again, check nyo pa rin sa kanila at baka nagbago na yung prices or setup nila.
- open for booking sila any day of the week except friday which according sa kanila ay peak day nila dahil maraming gimikeros and gimikeras.
- cozy at presko dito dahil may big-ass airconditioning sila at cushioned couches in front of the stage na medyo magiging hassle if you are to do a hc-punk show kasi fixed sila sa sahig at hindi pwedeng alisin, leaving small space for a "dancefloor." this bar is also a KTV bar - merong mga KTV rooms near the restroom area. kaya wag kayong magugulat kung may mga hapon, koreano, australyano, amerikano, at kung ano-ano pang lahi nag natagagapos sa "-ano" dun sa venue na sine-serban ng sangdamukal na drinks at chi-cha.
- equipment: drums (pearl ata) with no crash, a broken ride, and cracked hi-hats. guitar and bass amps are those 30 to 60 watt practice amps and a faulty wired microphone.

Dayo Bar - Betty Go-Belmonte St. Quezon city (near the LRT2 station)
- contact person: betty 7245201/ 0922-8227728
- the venue for numerous Non-Compliant Issue series of shows including the Magrudergrind, Crux, and Driven Fear tours.
- 5,000 ang kelangang bayaran for the rent of the venue and equipment, plus addtional 800 for the technician. downpayment of at least 1,000 pesos.
- air-conditioned (na minsan pinapatay or hini-hinaan when the rockin' starts) with couches near the back at outside 'garden'-type outdoor area accessible from the inside of the bar.
- wala silang bar guarantee pero kelangan mong i-push ang attendees to at least buy a drink from the bar.
- equipment: yamaha drum set with decent ride and hi-hats but no crash cymbals. 2 marshall 60-watt (or higher) guitar amps, and a bass amp na nakalimutan ko na ang brand. good PA system na minsan may monitor speakers sa harap, minsan wala.
- previously wala silang issues with security kaya people can hangout sa labas ng venue like dun sa curb or sometimes even sa tapat na ospital/medical building. but because of morons who call themselves "punks" na walang ginawa kundi maglasing at manggulo, nagreklamo ang community around the area forcing the bar to tighten the security within the bar's premises lang which in turn pressured the organizers to be responsible sa mga gagawin ng attendees nila.
- sadly, naulit pa uli 'to the 2nd time nang merong nagpa-gig dun. this time meron na raw petition from the residents to close the bar if they continue hosting "rock shows." kaya hindi na uli naulit doon. there were people telling me na pwede na uli pero when i contacted the owner - acoutic bands na lang daw ang pwedeng tumugtog. dahil makulit ako, i tried again at baka pwede dun gawin yung MyDisco show pero hindi na sya uli sumagot. there.

Ten02 Bar - Scout Ybardolaza St. cor Timog ave. Quezon city
- contact person: Marben or Skarlet 412-7572/ 0916-3624596
- eto ang una sa latest venue na nahanap namen where the first date of the MyDisco tour was held. dito rin gaganapin ang first date A Better Hope Foundation dito sa pilipinas sa Dec. 12
- again, 5,000 pesos for the rent of the venue and equipment. 50% or at least 1,000 downpayment.
- no bar guarantees, PERO the bar needs to earn at least 5,000. you find it odd? you tell us.
- cozy at spacious rin with air-conditioning and cushioned seats sa likod at sa gilid ng stage. plus a really cool looking round glass window. NO SMOKING ata sa loob i believe, pero there are chairs and tables outside kung saan pwede.
- equipment: pearl drums complete with crash, ride and hi-hat cycmbals. 60 or 80 watt fender and marshall guitar amps, again nakalimutan ko ang brand ng bass amp, i'm not sure pero fender ata and a good PA system.

Nine Mile Bar - Kalayaan St. near Kamias St. Quezon city
- contact person: Archie 0917-4088310/ 927-8598
- pangalawa sa mga latest venues na nahanap namen where the second MyDisco show happened.
- they DO NOT charge for the rent of the venue and equipment just 1,000 pesos for the booking of the date which doubles as the technicians fee na rin.
- wala ring bar guarantee (coz i think the beers are pretty cheap?)
- tricky yung location ng bar kasi napapagitnaan sya ng New City Foodhouse at ng isang malaking puting bahay at wala (kung meron man, hindi kita) syang sign sa labas. papasok ka sa parang iskinita na katabi nung gate/driveway.
- napapalibutan ng chairs, tables, spare music equipment yung semi-elevated stage where the drums and amps are located ganun din ang kabuuan ng venue. directly in front of the stage ay 2 or 3 couches kung saan pwede pumwesto yung gustong manood ang performers upclose.
- equipment: pearl drums with complete but weak-sounding ride, crash, at hi-hat cymbals. the 2 guitar amps are small peavey practice amps at again, nakalimutan ko uli ang tatak. medyo OK ang PA system but it will require a few adjustments here and there.

eto pa ang ilang bars/venues dito sa manila na pwede nyo ring subukan. hindi ko pa sila personally nakakausap pero nagkakaroon din ng hc-punk shows dito:

Freedom Bar - Anonas St. Quezon city
Cuerdas Bar - C5 road near 10Q Convenience road (under the flyover) Pasig city
Camp Xtreme - Ermin Garcia street Cubao, Quezon city

*para sa ibang mga members na nakapag-organize din ng mga shows, post din kayo dito. fill in the blanks
mapapansin nyo panay bars at clubs lang ang mga nailista ko. kung meron dito saten na mga independent spaces, warehouses, sports gyms, art houses at iba pa post nyo rin. it'll be a great deal of help sa mga future shows lalo na ngayon na maraming foreign acts ang dumdadalaw saten dito sa pilipinas at mga bandang nabubuo

Part 2 (provincial)

eto ang 3 sa mga venues na nasubukan na at patuloy naming pinagtatanghalan ng mga gigs sa southern luzon.
yung ibang mga kapatid nating nasa Luzon, Visayas, at Mindanao. post din kayo ng mga venues dito.

South Luzon:

Saltwater Bar & Grill - Brgy. Pansol Calamba, Laguna
- contact person: izel 09179994288
- dito ginanap yung 2nd date ng Magnicide tour early this year.
- hindi ko na rin ma-recall kung magkano ang rent ng venue at equipment pero sa tingin ko mas mababa ang charge nila compared sa mga bars sa manila. 4,000 ata or something.
- semi-open yung lugar with bamboo chairs and tables at may kataasan yung stage. maganda yung banyo nila dito, nature talaga ang datingan.
- dito madalas ginaganap ang mga hc at metal shows ng mga taga-laguna at batangas
- equipment: fernando(?) drum kit. a 100-watt hartke guitar head with 4x10 speakers at isang combo unit with relatively obscure brand, yun parang mga nabibili sa raon. same with the bass amp. the PA system does the setup justice though kasi dinig mo pa rin ang mga instrumento.

Chiong Lin Dimsum House - Quezon ave. Lucena city, Quezon province

- once lang kami nakapagpa-gig dito (NCI #3) at maganda naman ang kinalabasan. dumayo ang mga bands tulad ng play at omerta from bulacan, a.d.a. from laguna, execution of terror at befall from manila/samar, at ninelevenattack from bicol.
- isa syang malawak na hall with tiled flooring and ample windows for ventilation kung saan daw ginanap dati ang muziklaban sa lucena. with that type of event, you can just imagine yung dami ng tao na kaya nyang i-accomodate.
- equipment: [you would have to rent your own kasi space lang 'to. a separate topic for quality equipments maybe?]

High Temperature Bar - Granja St. Lucena city (at the back of Novo besides CAP building)

- the site for both Magrudergrind and Conquest For Death's lucena city dates
- walang bayad ang rent sa venue pero you would have to make the tickets consumable para may kita sila bar kahit paano. AND, they require Security personnel na iha-hire nila which would cost 2,000 para sa 4 na 'bouncers.'
- maliit lang sya na bar with very little space in front of the stage at catwalk pa sa gilid.
- equipment: [wala ring equipment like the venue above]

i think mas advantageous yung bars kase there's no need to rent equipment anymore..but i believe small halls are better for hardcore shows, so if you can help us, mas ayus..

Green Papaya is an Art Space / Museum in a building sa QC. Nakabalandra lang lahat yung mga artworks na naka display dun in a room. Maganda dun kasi malapit lang yung mga foodstores and other trades where you can buy necessities. Plus, may band space yung Green Papaya, or in short, Green Papaya is a band space as well, which is very flexible when having gigs or shows.

i generally shy away from the usual band hangouts like dredd,mayrics or freedom.dami minsan pretentious sa mga venues na yan.id pick a videoke bar any day over them.ewan ko ayaw ko lang sa mga established na bars,mas trip ko ako yung bumubutas tas pag sikat na alis na kami ng mga mates ko.hehe.

The last time I checked, yes, they are. Venue is open space inside. Nothing on the walls - just concrete everywhere.

ah, wala pa ata upcoming shows e, tumugtog kasi kami nila russel jan last weekend. pero sa september nagpaplano kami magpagig dun.
