no worries...nkhanda na un blank screens at pintura... rubberized lng ha, walang plastisol eh... ok nko dun sa five months to pay hahahhahaha

Hello there!

This is Joe Kidd of Carburetor Dung writing, Thanks to all who are helping out with the short visit. It's gonna be a first time for me and I believe almost all in the DUNG camp have never been to the Philippines before, so we are very honoured and excited to be there soon.

I was introduced to Pinoy punk rock very early on, back when I first read about the TRC label and tapes in some news magazine back in the early 80s. It was a beginning of a love affair. We contacted the fanzines there, made friends and obtained almost all of the early TRC releases, some of which are still in my collection; some gone (borrowed and never returned), some taken by neglect and eaten by termites etc.

The band which is still a huge favourite is the DEAD ENDS. To this very day, I still believe Second Coming is the first Southeast Asian punk rock masterpiece and it continues to be a firm favourite. And of course all the early comps, from Rescue Ladders and Barricades (the first one), Fatal Response etc, and tapes by IOV, URBAN BANDITS, PHIL. VIOLATORS etc, were being copied and re-copied onto blank tapes and distributed among friends here for years.

Me and many of my friends in the early days of the Malaysian punk scene were consumed by jealousy for what's happening in Manila then. For us it was not something we can easily emulate. Those bands inspired us in many ways and we want to have bands too; but being poor and totally removed from any sort of structure which would enable us poor kids wanting to play electric guitars and pound on real drums (as opposed to pots and pans and plastic containers), we were stopped dead. So we wore the regalia, trade tapes, made zines etc. but it was only in the lates 80s when we started seeing punk bands of our very own.

Anyway, I don't want to wax lyrical too much and go overboard with it, but I have to express how important the early Philippines punk scene for us here. And going there to be with you guys is something we've been dreaming for a very long time - in my case, it must be around 26 years!
